The Chellah
What was once the ancient site of the Roman settlement of Sala Colonia is now enclosed by walls of a necropolis of Chellah built in the 13th century long after the departure of the Romans. Now the ancient tombs and tilework are overgrown with shrubs and creepers. and is a haven for birds especially the bill-clacking stork who build enormous wheel shaped twig and reed nests on every tree or turret. .
