Almost to the top of Tiger’s Nestlookout

Taktsang Monastery viewpoint perched on a cliff at 3,000 feetoverlooking the valley florr. A mystical pilgrimage for visitors and locals alike. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoch flew to the site of the monastery on the back of a tigress from Tibet and meditated there for three months thus bringing Buddhism to Bhutan.

A steep walk but worth every step. The path through the forest and up the mountain reveals prayer poles and flags as mini shrines. The shrines along with enterprising vendors who had arisen even earlier than we had to display their wares surprise and delight us along the way.
