Le Tour facing Sale
This minaret was intended to be the highest in the Muslim world. Construction was abandoned in 1199. The tower still stands but the adjacent mosque was destroyed by earthquakes in 1755. The partially reconstructed pillars testify to the magnitude of the grandiose original plans.
